Beyond the walls and circumstances, we see lives filled with purpose, value, and potential.
What We Do
The Jail Ministry of One Accord Prayer Association exists to bring hope, encouragement, and spiritual support to incarcerated individuals during a season of reflection and personal growth. Many inmates have limited access to educational and faith-based materials, and opportunities for meaningful spiritual engagement can be scarce while incarcerated.
Through this program, we provide religious literature that supports spiritual development, personal accountability, and faith-based encouragement. Depending on available funding, these resources may include printed devotionals, Bible studies, scripture lessons, Christian articles, faith-based educational materials, and religious books.
When funding is limited, our volunteers prepare and print materials in-house to ensure that inmates continue to receive encouragement and spiritual support. When the program is fully funded, we are able to purchase books and other religious materials that are welcomed and appreciated by the inmate population we serve.
In addition to providing literature, we are typically given an hour to meet with inmates and discuss the things of God. A central focus of these visits is the biblical principle of "Abiding in the Vine" from John 15, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a daily walk with God. Through open discussion, scripture study, prayer, and personal testimony, we encourage inmates to develop a personal relationship with God that can sustain them both during incarceration and after their release.
The books and materials distributed through this ministry are especially meaningful because incarcerated individuals often have limited access to the internet and other educational resources. A faith-based book may be read multiple times, shared among inmates, and become an important source of encouragement, reflection, and spiritual growth. Many participants look forward to receiving new reading materials and express sincere appreciation for the opportunity to continue learning and strengthening their faith.
In the interest of full transparency, the materials provided through this program are religious in nature and are intended to support inmates spiritually as they navigate the challenges of incarceration. Participation is entirely voluntary, and we seek to make these resources available to those who desire them and who find comfort, hope, and encouragement through faith-based teachings.
Our Vision for the Future
​Our long-term goal is to transform our current collection of in-house printed materials into a professionally bound devotional specifically designed for incarcerated individuals. Rather than receiving loose pages that can be misplaced or damaged, inmates would receive a durable devotional book they can keep, study personally, and share with others.
We envision a devotional that inmates can use during their private time with God or together with fellow inmates during small group devotional and discussion times in common areas. The devotional will center on practical biblical principles, daily spiritual growth, and the life-changing message of abiding in Christ through a consistent daily walk with God.
Developing our own devotional will also create a more sustainable ministry model. Currently, religious books often cost between $8 and $16 per copy. We estimate that once our devotional is finalized and professionally produced, copies can be printed for approximately $8 each. This would allow us to place more resources into the hands of inmates while maximizing the impact of donor contributions.
Why Funding Matters
Our goal is to ensure that the Jail Ministry is fully funded so that we can consistently provide faith-based resources to those who desire them. Donations help cover the cost of books, printed study materials, devotional development, Bibles, printing supplies, professionally bound devotionals, and other ministry resources that allow us to continue serving incarcerated individuals with compassion and dignity.
