Every Child Deserves a Strong Start

The Step Into Hope Shoe Drive is one of the core outreach programs of the James 1:27 Fund at One Accord Prayer Association. This initiative helps provide new shoes for children whose families are experiencing financial hardship throughout Shelby County, Texas, and DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.

Unlike many seasonal programs, this effort continues year-round. Children's feet grow quickly, shoes wear out, and many families face ongoing financial challenges that make it difficult to keep up with these needs. A child may begin the school year with proper footwear only to outgrow those shoes or wear them out within a few months.

Our service area includes many rural and underserved communities where families often face difficult financial choices. When budgets are stretched, replacing a child's shoes may be delayed while necessities such as food, housing, utilities, transportation, and medical expenses take priority. Through the Step Into Hope Shoe Drive, we help fill that gap and ensure children have access to one of life's most basic necessities.

A pair of shoes may seem like a simple item, but proper footwear can make a significant difference in a child's daily life.

New shoes help children:

New Shoes Only

The Step Into Hope Shoe Drive provides new shoes only.

For health, safety, sizing, and dignity reasons, we do not distribute used shoes. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of those who wish to donate gently used footwear; however, we are unable to accept used shoe donations through this program. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank our supporters for understanding our commitment to providing every child with a brand-new pair of shoes.

Monetary donations allow us to purchase the correct sizes and styles based on each child's needs, ensuring resources are used effectively and responsibly.

A Year-Round Commitment

While our primary focus is the back-to-school season, we recognize that children's needs do not end once classes begin.

Many students start the school year with brand-new shoes only to outgrow them or wear them down through daily use by late winter. For this reason, we place special emphasis on providing assistance during February and March, when growing feet and normal wear and tear often create renewed need.

By maintaining funding throughout the year, we can respond to requests as they arise rather than limiting assistance to a single annual distribution.

Funds donated to the Step Into Hope Shoe Drive are used to purchase new shoes for children in need throughout Shelby County, Texas, and DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.

No child should have to attend school in worn-out, damaged, ill-fitting, or inadequate shoes because of financial hardship.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to walk into school with confidence, participate fully in activities, and focus on learning rather than worrying about whether their shoes will last another day.

As this program grows, we hope to increase the number of children we serve annually and establish both back-to-school and mid-year distributions throughout Shelby County, Texas, and DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.

Donation Transparency

To ensure donor funds are used as intended, corporate donations and sponsorships are directed exclusively toward community service and outreach initiatives. They are not used to fund our Jail Ministry, Bound for Hope, prayer meetings, or social media operations. We are committed to transparency, responsible stewardship, and ensuring that donor support directly benefits the programs it was intended to support.
