Children's Shoe Drive: Every Child Deserves a Strong Start

The Children's Shoe Drive is one of the core outreach ministries of the James 1:27 Fund at One Accord Prayer Association. This program exists to help provide new shoes for children whose families are experiencing financial hardship throughout the Texas and Louisiana communities surrounding the Toledo Bend region.

Unlike many seasonal programs, this ministry never stops. Children's feet grow quickly, shoes wear out, and families facing financial challenges often struggle to keep up with these ongoing needs. A child may begin the school year with proper footwear only to outgrow those shoes or wear them out within a few months.

Our service area includes many rural and underserved communities where families often face difficult financial choices. When budgets are stretched, replacing a child's shoes may be delayed while necessities such as food, housing, utilities, transportation, and medical expenses take priority. Through this program, we help fill that gap and ensure children have access to one of life's most basic necessities.

A pair of shoes may seem like a simple item, but for a child, proper footwear can have a significant impact on daily life.

A Year-Round Commitment

While our primary focus is the back-to-school season, we recognize that children's needs do not end once classes begin.

Many students start the school year with brand-new shoes only to outgrow them or wear them down through daily use by late winter. For this reason, we also place special emphasis on providing assistance during February and March, when growing feet and the normal wear and tear of school activities often create renewed need.

By maintaining funding throughout the year, we can respond to these requests as they arise rather than limiting assistance to a single annual distribution.

How Donations Help

Funds donated to the Children's Shoe Drive are used to events and purchase new shoes for children in need throughout our Texas and Louisiana service area.

Our vision is simple:

As this program grows, we hope to increase the number of children we serve annually and establish both back-to-school and mid-year distributions throughout the Toledo Bend region of Texas and Louisiana.
