Prayer in the Spirit
A prayer language is needed because there are times when our understanding is limited, yet our spirit still needs to pray. Scripture teaches that when a believer prays in an unknown tongue, he speaks not unto men, but unto God, and in the spirit he speaks mysteries. It also says that when a man prays in an unknown tongue, his spirit prayeth even when his understanding is unfruitful. For this reason, praying in the Spirit is not empty speech; it is a God-given way to commune with the Father beyond the limits of natural understanding.
The Word also shows that this kind of prayer strengthens the believer. 1 Corinthians 14:4 says that he that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself, and Jude 1:20 tells us that we build up ourselves on our most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Ephesians 6:18 instructs us to pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and Romans 8:26–27 says the Spirit helps our infirmities and makes intercession for us according to the will of God when we do not know what to pray for as we ought. Luke 11:11–13 gives further assurance that when we ask the Father, He does not give something harmful in place of what we need; rather, He is willing to give the Holy Spirit to them that ask Him. Praying in other tongues, then, is a gracious provision from God for edification, Spirit-led intercession, and deeper fellowship with Him.

Prayer to Receive Prayer Language
Father, I come to You in faith and with a willing heart. I thank You for the gift of the Holy Ghost, and I ask You to fill me afresh and teach me to yield fully to Your Spirit. As I worship You and open my heart before You, let my spirit pray as the Holy Ghost gives utterance. Remove fear, doubt, and hesitation, and help me receive all that You desire for me. Strengthen me, build me up in my most holy faith, and lead me into deeper fellowship with You through prayer in the Spirit. I receive Your Holy Spirit and trust You for the evidence of speaking in other tongues. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
